The WOMEN IN AVIATION, INT’L – 2016 SCHOLARSHIPS are published and ready for you to apply!
Here’s the scoop: Go to www.wai.org and click on the Scholarships tab on the top row.
Look through the 100+ scholarships offered (more will be added, so keep looking).
Then: Choose 1 or 2 that you want to apply for.
Read the directions thoroughly and follow them precisely in preparing your applications.
Start now – it takes time to write essays, get letters of recommendation, and gather all the materials for each application.
Check and double-check that your applications are complete, signed and copied.
Extra help is available – Let us know if you would like another set of eyes review your applications and give feedback. (Note the exception: We cannot review an app if you are applying for one of the scholarships given by our Washington State Chapter.)
Due Date: Scholarship applications must be postmarked by November 16, 2015.

Student Pilot Scholarships
In an effort to support outstanding student pilots, the AOPA Foundation will be awarding ten scholarships in 2014. Nine scholarships will provide $5,000, and a tenth scholarship will award $12,000, to a student pilot pursuing an FAA sport, recreational, or private pilot certificate.
The recipients will be chosen based on merit, including previous accomplishments, ability to set goals, and demonstrated commitment to flight training and general aviation. The scholarships will be awarded at the AOPA Homecoming Fly-In in Frederick, Maryland, October 4th, 2014.
The winners will be notified prior to the Homecoming Fly-In, and do not need to be present to accept the award.
The deadline to complete the online scholarship application is Friday, August 22, 2014 (11:59 p.m. Eastern).
Scholarship applicants must meet all criteria listed below:
- Be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Hold a current FAA Student Pilot Certificate at the time of application
- Be a current and paid member of AOPA at both the time of application and when the scholarship is awarded
- Not have completed the FAA practical test/checkride at the time of application
